Experienced a humbling and inspiring service today at TVCC. This was week two and the service title was Eternal Perspectives. The topic was Where is Your Treasure?
We have a tendency to put our time, energy and resources into acquiring “things” or doing what we want to do. Greed and selfishness are the lies Satan sells. He tries to tell us God and his Kingdom won’t make us happy. Satan tries to convince us “things” make us happy. Doing what we want to do when we want to do it is the key.
However, the Bible tells us not to put our very best into treasures here on earth because… well… we all die! We can’t take “things” with us. We must guard against greed. Because the truth is riches have no purchasing power when we are dead! So what can we do?
This passage was difficult to read because everyone was deceptive but trying to do what was right in their mind. Just like us today. We all have free will to do right or wrong. However, no matter our choices, God’s plan will prevail but there will always be consequences for our decisions. The bottom line is we can’t change God’s plan.
‘Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.” And he answered him, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death. Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me. And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.” Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son.
