Jeremiah 7

“‘Don’t be fooled into thinking that you will never suffer because the Temple is here. It’s a lie! Do you really think you can steal, murder, commit adultery, lie, and burn incense to Baal and all those other new gods of yours, and then come here and stand before me in my Temple and chant, “We are safe!”—only to go right back to all those evils again? Don’t you yourselves admit that this Temple, which bears my name, has become a den of thieves? Surely I see all the evil going on there. I, the Lord, have spoken! Jeremiah 7:8‭-‬11 NLT

I would say this applies today. We don’t want to admit it but it is very true.

Things that jumped out at me reading Jeremiah 3 today.

Yet you say to me, ‘Father, you have been my guide since my youth. Surely you won’t be angry forever! Surely you can forget about it!’ So you talk, but you keep on doing all the evil you can.” Voices are heard high on the windswept mountains, the weeping and pleading of Israel’s people. For they have chosen crooked paths and have forgotten the Lord their God. “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” “Yes, we’re coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God. Jeremiah 3:4‭-‬5‭, ‬21‭-‬22 NLT

Lesson learned

Today Jesse learned an important lesson about betting. Yesterday he bet Brennon that he would not be home today before noon. Brennon actually made it home today at 11:57 a.m. lol! They bet $20 but Jesse realized he didn’t have access to his money. Instead he worked it off by vacuuming Brennon’s car. In his defense, he really worked his butt off and did a great job. I wouldn’t say many 9-year-olds would do what Jesse did today. Even though it was a tough lesson to learn he took it like a young man.
